Kirk Dorius’ practice emphasizes client counseling, IP portfolio development, patent prosecution, and opinion work in the areas of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems, medical devices, consumer products, automotive applications, materials processing, and manufacturing processes. His practice regularly includes freedom-to-operate and patentability analyses and opinions, assertion analyses, and intellectual property acquisition due diligence.
Kirk has prosecuted U.S. and foreign patent applications in the areas of electrohydrodynamic air movers, GPS security, robot motive systems and navigation, industrial fasteners and instrumentation, medical needles and catheters, touch fastener products, vibration dampeners, integrated circuit interposer modules and packaging, point of sale terminals, RFID transaction devices, charging circuits, remote keyless entry transmitters, and construction technologies including roofing membranes, flooring systems, and window frame and cabinetry manufacturing.
Additional patent prosecution experience includes the areas of financial transaction security and rewards systems, internet-based education management platforms, medical data management, online gaming software, targeted internet advertising and rewards systems, chemicals authentication, printed photovoltaic cells, biometrics, silicon wafer polishing/planarization pads and slurries, ergonomic devices, physical therapy and fitness equipment, hand tools, electrical couplings, and various consumer products including personal care appliances, air fresheners, games, house wares, product dispensers and packaging.
